Education and Advocacy
The Indian River Land Trust believes strongly in offering environmental educational opportunities for our members and the residents of Indian River County. We do this through partnerships with local government and other organizations by co-hosting
lecture series and coordinating
conservation land tours. As more conservation lands are protected, IRLT will continue to work with its partners to provide a variety of recreational opportunities on these unique properties.
IRLT also advocates for various conservation issues important to our county and the protection of its land and water resources. IRLT fully supports the statewide
Florida Forever program, which provides $300 million a year for acquisition of environmentally important lands from several programs throughout the state. IRLT is an integral part of the Alliance of Florida Land Trusts, a coalition of Florida land trusts working together to maximize our impact on land protection in each of our respective counties, as well as the Land Trust Alliance, the professional organization of more than 1500 land trusts nationwide.
